"Geeks must also understand users"

On this page, the co-founders of Oneness Labs talk about Web3 innovation.

As the Chief Scientist of Oneness Labs, I draw upon a diverse background that spans academia and entrepreneurship. From my experience, I frequently encountered a recurring issue: many startup companies, despite having innovative technical solutions, often lost sight of their end-users' needs. This misalignment resulted in products that, while technologically impressive, failed to resonate with or adequately serve their intended audience.

The Core of Web3 Innovation: User-Centric Design

Reflecting on these experiences, I realized that this disconnect between technology and user needs is particularly pronounced in the blockchain and Web3 industries. There is a common pitfall where developers become enamored with the possibilities of the technology itself, losing sight of practical usability and user experience. Blockchain solutions, for instance, often emphasize security and efficiency in transactions but overlook the complexity and intimidation that users face when interacting with these systems. While blockchain is believed to have the potential to create new revenue streams, actual implementation frequently lags due to technical challenges and the need for better integration with existing systems. The gap between blockchain's technical capabilities and user needs often leads to products that are difficult to use and understand, limiting their adoption and practical impact.

Our Response At Oneness Labs

At Oneness Labs, we are acutely aware of these challenges. Our mission is to break the barriers between Web2 and Web3 gaming, creating seamless and intuitive experiences for users across both domains. Our approach is rooted in a fundamental understanding of our diverse user base, which includes Web2 gaming studios, players, and native Web3 users. We prioritize their needs for performance, security, privacy, fairness, seamless integration, and a unified, familiar user experience.

Our flagship products, the Gaming Intent Layer and its user-facing application, TheGame.fun💊, embody this philosophy. Unlike many in the Web3 space who chase novelty and performance, we focus on user-centric design. The Gaming Intent Layer features modules like Adapter and zkEngine, designed for easy integration and use. TheGame.fun💊 streamlines the processes of onboarding, retaining, and transitioning players, adding value to traditional games. By prioritizing practical usability over mere technological innovation, we aim to deliver solutions that truly meet our users' needs.

A Call to Web3 Technologists

I believe that Web3 technologists must embrace a user-centric approach to innovation. Understanding and addressing the needs of users should be at the heart of our efforts. I encourage my peers in the Web3 industry to adopt a similar approach, ensuring that technological advancements translate into meaningful and accessible solutions for users worldwide, and creating value that extends beyond the technical marvels to enrich the everyday lives of users.
